Volume I is almost near completion, weighing in at over 190 pages, this is a major update to the original beta edition release. When finished this volume will be an estimated 200 pages of core mechanics and general setting information. This expanded version of what was originally called the Player’s Handbook includes a completely revamped list of spells, new race and class options, a streamlined game mechanic, and a return to the traditional 3-18 attribute score range. The level 10 level-cap has been removed, players may now advance their characters all they way to level 20.

Volume II, follows not far behind with over 160 pages written, and many more pages in the pipeline. Volume II will serve as the Games Masters guide, and when finished will weight in at an estimated 220 pages, giving the Games Master (aka Storyteller) all the material they will need to run a campaign using Wyverns & Warlocks, including a detailed bestiary with creatures that fully scalable from level 1 to 20.  Full advice on setting up single adventures, full adventure paths, and soapbox style campaigns. A fully usable campaign setting with enough detail to give any campaign a kick start to top gear.

Once both volumes are fully drafted, an initial test drive release will be available to a limited audience. Whilst this version is under review, work will commence on the artwork. A full version of Wyverns & Warlocks will be available later this year. Exact date to be confirmed. A short collection of pre-generated adventures will follow as soon as possible.

The revised Beta Edition is progressing well. Volume 1 is near completion, with work on the internal and external artwork now starting. Whilst penultimate proof checks are underway.  

More updates will be given as they become available. 

Work on the Beta Edition (Revised) is coming along well. A quick summary of the work in progress includes:

• The core rule mechanics have been streamlined to flow easier, with a 2d10 Action Check system replacing the traditional d20 rule mechanic.
• Combat has been enhanced to better-define the role of Hit Points in the game, and the addition of an interesting critical hit system that involves tactical decisions rather than just pure blind luck.
• Prestige Classes have been removed from the Player’s Handbook. These will be added back into the game in a later product.
• Spells for the core game are in the process of being totally revamped using Open game Content from alternative sources.
• Psyche has been dropped removing the cumbersome book-keeping that resulted when casting spell.

The first part of the Whispers in the Dark adventure path is now available. Evil in the Shadows is written for 1st level characters, starting them off on a quest to save the town of Two Bridges from an evil that lurks in the shadows. This Storyteller adventure resource also introduces new monsters and magic items never before seen in the Wyverns & Warlocks, whilst also providing alternate rules for preparing adventures. This adventure module (Evil in the Shadows) is the first to be released for the Whispers in the Dark adventure path. The four adventures in this module are linked to the two introductory adventures in the Core Rules. This module not only includes four adventures, but also new magic items, monsters and rules for alternate adventure types.

A second adventure module (Whispers of the Rat God) will pick up where this module ends.

Print Version

At present it is only the Print to Order version of the rule books that is currently available. These are printed in the US and shipped direct to you, giving you a hard copy of the books to sit proud with your other books on your bookshelf.

Electronic Version

An electronic version of the Player’s Handbook is available for free. The link to download it is found on the Beta Edition page along with the print versions of the books. Electronic versions of the other books will be made available at a later date.

Hi all,

A quick update just to let you know that the proofread of the Beta Edition is now completed. With the artwork for the covers also completed, and less that a dozen internal images to be done, we are well on track to getting the initial rule books published. This will include:

• Core Rules: This is the complete one-stop rule-book for both playing and running the game. In this book you will find everything from player races, character classes, spells, equipment, monsters and treasures. With guidance on preparing stories,

• Player’s Handbook: A cut-down version of the Core Rules, this provides the material the players will need to create characters and play the game without the additional material used by the storyteller.

• Character Folio: Many players will be satisfied with printing off the two-page character sheet available for free in the downloads section, however, for those that want something a little extra special look no further than the Character Folio. A book that is entirely optional, the Character Folio provides a deluxe version of the character sheets, enough for a dozen characters, all bound together as a single book.
