What is Wyverns & Warlocks: Wyverns & Warlocks (TM) is a fantasy storytelling game (RPG) based on the popular OGL (Open Game License) material available for game developers.

What is an RPG: An RPG (Role Playing Game) is a game of make-believe. In such a game, all of the players (bar one) gets to play the role of a single character in a story, defining the character and deciding what they do. The remaining player (often referred to as the Games Master, or Storyteller), takes on the role of director and referee for the game, setting each scene in the story whilst controlling all the additional characters.

What is the OGL: The Open Game License is a series of game reference documents that provides a common set of game rules for RPGs for developers to use in their products. This enables developers to share a common ground with the games they write, enabling a certain degree of cross compatibility across each of the different game products. With all OGL game systems sharing a common root, players are then able to mix and match different products, enabling them to build the type of game experience they wish to play.

How does Wyverns & Warlocks differ to other RPGs: Wyverns & Warlocks is a simpler return to the old days of roleplaying games, when such games were simple to play and were not bogged down in thousands of rules. However unlike true retro-clones (games that closely copy the original games), Wyverns & Warlocks keeps the philosophy of the OGL at its heart. Keep the rules simple, and maximize the enjoyment.

When is Wyverns & Warlocks available: Currently a beta (play test) version of the game is currently being finalized. With proof reading underway, and artwork being produced, a beta version will be available for play this year (2010). As soon as the beta version is available this site will be updated.

Will I be able to play the beta version: Currently there are no plans for a general release of the beta version of the rules. However, neither are there any plans not to. The idea at present it to get the game play tested by a dedicated gaming group. However, if there is enough interest this can certainly be revisited.

Where will Wyverns & Warlocks be available: The books for Wyverns & Warlocks are planned for publication via lulu.com. This will enable us to distribute the book (either by electronic or paper format) to as many buyers as are interested. Other web based publisher are also under consideration.
